Salisbury Landscaping Solutions is a small independent firm led by Chris Hackett. Over forty-five years in the trade, working in brick, timber and turf across the Cathedral city and the villages beyond.
An introduction.
We are a small independent firm, established in 2003 and quietly working in the same corner of Wiltshire ever since. The trade runs in Chris’s family — forty-five years of building, restoring and laying the bones of a garden, from steps and walls to patios, paths and the structural work that no one sees but everyone feels underfoot.
We are not a national outfit. We take on the jobs we can give our attention to, and we finish what we start. Every project begins on the site itself, with a conversation, a notebook, and a careful look at the ground beneath. Our standard is the same whether the work is a single run of cottage paving or the sensitive restoration of a listed property.

Patios & Paving
Hand-laid patios in natural and dressed stone. Curved walls, steps and edging cut to fit the site, not the catalogue.
Hard Landscaping
Retaining walls, terracing, drainage and the structural groundwork that holds a garden together for the next thirty years.
Driveways
Block paving, resin-bound aggregate and gravel drives, with proper sub-base preparation and SUDS-compliant drainage as standard.
Fencing & Boundaries
Hardwood fencing, post-and-rail, picket and bespoke boundary work. Properly dug, set and finished to weather well.
Building Works
Extensions, garden rooms and the heavier construction work that most landscapers won’t take on. A trade we’ve kept in the family.
Planting & Turf
Tree work, bed planting, lawn-laying and the softer finishing that ties the structural work into a living garden.
We also undertake decking, regular maintenance and resin-bound paths.

A trade learned the old way: a four-year apprenticeship and advanced craft certification. Decades of building and landscaping experience, and the day-to-day work on site. Chris is a brickwork specialist. He founded SLS in 2003 and still leads every project on the ground. Spent a few years teaching at the local college helping students to pass to a very high standard with 100% pass rates.
We work with a small, settled team of trusted trades, and take on only the work we can give our full attention to.

Chris removed an old felt roof and replaced with a new bonded roof. All was completed in one day. A professional job. Very reliable guy. I can highly recommend.
Removal of old mortar from 2 patios and a path, repointing of same and new grass laid. All beautifully done with the lawn area fully prepared and clear instructions given for the aftercare.
Strong winds had caused a long stretch of 20+ year old fencing to collapse. I asked SLS to replace it and it looked really good. Two years later, another stretch of old fencing collapsed and I called SLS again because I was so pleased with there previous work. The latest fence is equally impressive. Whilst they were here Chris and his crew were tidy and considerate and the works were completed on time and cost.
